Eva Longoria Gets Down to Business - and Possibly Reconciles With Eduardo!
Eva Longoria's ex-boyfriend Eduardo Cruz was spotted visiting her LA home yesterday. She emerged later after him and headed off to run errands and visit a studio. Eva and Eduardo have been dating on-and-off since 2011, but Eva's rep confirmed that the couple had called it quits in June of last year. Yesterday morning, Eduardo sent out some cryptic tweets in Spanish, saying, "Sometimes the person who needs to change is the one who asks you to change, and not you" and "Never assume the obvious is true." He started the series with the comment, "If your ex says 'you'll never find anyone like me,' tell them that that's the idea . . . "
Aside from her romantic life, Eva has been keeping busy over the past month by getting involved in politics. Eva ' who is a big supporter of President Obama and wore cheeky "Behind Obama" sweatpants during her outing yesterday ' attended the Latino Inaugural Ball during Inauguration weekend. David Beckham Reportedly Joining Paris St. Germain Soccer Team
David Beckham had a smile on his face as he left a Paris hospital today. He has reason to be happy ' it was announced that David Beckham will join Paris St. Germain on the condition that he passes his mandatory physical. The official announcement is expected later today.
The decision goes into effect quickly ' David's set to be on the field with PSG Thursday. The big French moves comes after David apparently entertained twelve offers from teams around the world following his departure from the LA Galaxy. He kept his skills sharp earlier this week by training with London's Arsenal, though that squad was clearly not the victor in the Beckham bidding war. Now, David work will take David just a Eurostar ride away from his family, who are currently settling back into life in the UK.

Nicole Kidman and Her Girls Wrap Up a Busy Award Season Weekend
Nicole Kidman and her kids caught a flight out of LA yesterday after a hectic award-season weekend. Nicole held hands with her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, as they made their way through LAX to hop on a plane.
Nicole had a full schedule in Hollywood over the weekend, attending the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday and the SAG Awards on Sunday. At the latter event, Nicole was nominated in two categories. She was up for outstanding female actor in a TV movie or miniseries for Hemingway & Gellhorn, but lost to Julianne Moore. Nicole also was in the running for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for her work in The Paperboy, and was bested by winner Anne Hathaway, who has been sweeping that category at award shows over the past few weeks. Award or no award, Nicole still has plenty of filming to keep her busy over the next year. She's currently working on the new Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco, and is set to star in Before I Go to Sleep, the upcoming film adaptation of S.J. Watson's popular thriller.

Ben, Jen, and the Les Mis Crew Celebrate Post-SAGs at Chateau Marmont
Ben Affleck celebrated his big win at last night's SAG Awards with his wife, Jennifer Garner, and several other celebrities at Chateau Marmont in LA. The couple was spotted leaving after a bash with Hugh Jackman while still wearing their glamorous red-carpet looks, but not carrying Ben's award for Argo's outstanding performance by an ensemble cast. Amanda Seyfried, though, changed out of her blue Zac Posen gown into a sheer black cocktail dress. Amanda's Les Misérables costars Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, and Hugh Jackman also attended festivities at the Chateau along with Homeland's Damian Lewis.
Ben and Jennifer appeared to enjoy themselves at the actual SAG Awards, where they were seen laughing and acting affectionate throughout the show. Earlier yesterday, Ben took his daughters, Violet and Seraphina, to a farmers market in Brentwood to pick up some fruit and flowers. In addition to the SAGs and running errands, Ben also picked up the Modern Master honor from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Friday and the best picture award from the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday.

Ben and Jen Celebrate Argo's Wins at the Star-Studded Producers Guild Awards
The Producers Guild Awards had a star-studded turn out in LA last night. Les Miserables leading ladies Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfriend had different looks on the red carpet, with Amanda in orange Roland Mouret and Anne in floral Erdem. Argo director and star Ben Affleck, fresh off a special honor at the Santa Barbara Film Festival Friday, coordinated in black tie with his Oscar de la Renta-clad wife Jennifer Garner. Other celebs who turned out includes close friends Naomi Watts, in Victoria Beckham, and Nicole Kidman, in L'Wren Scott, Channing Tatum, and Kerry Washington ' click through to see images from the red carpet.
There was more celebrating in store for Ben since Argo again won best picture. Ben made a cheeky comment to the room full of producers when accepting the honor, telling them, "I'm still acting!" Ben Affleck was honored with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's Modern Master Award last night. He ventured to the city along with his best friend Matt Damon. Ben sat for a Q&A session moderated by Leonard Maltin before the nighttime ceremony, where Matt had the honor of introducing Ben to the crowd. Matt said of Ben, "[He's] undeniably two things ' my very old friend and a very young master." Ben walked onto the stage, and the childhood pals embraced. Later, Ben and Matt relaxed and chatted with mini bottles of Moet and Chandon in hand. It's been a good week for Matt and Ben togetherness, since they also had a play flight when Matt took over Jimmy Kimmel's show Thursday.

Ryan Phillippe flashed his biceps in a white tank as he left an LA gym yesterday. Although Ryan's been focused on getting fit recently, he's also been spending time on his current project, Shreveport, which he wrote, directed, and stars in. Ryan's working on his directorial debut after dropping out of a TV gig; he was originally supposed to play the lead in CBS's Golden Boy, but instead the role went to Theo James, who chatted up the series at the TCAs earlier this month.
While Ryan has been busy splitting time between work and the gym, his kids, Ava and Deacon, have been sharing quality outings with their mom, Reese Witherspoon. Prince Harry offered a glimpse into his life in the Royal Air Force in newly released photos from Afghanistan, where he has been deployed for the past 20 weeks. Harry was pictured working on a helicopter and doing drills in Camp Bastion, as well as relaxing with his fellow soldiers by playing video games and dressing up in a Santa hat. The images came out as the UK Ministry of Defense confirms Harry is heading back to the UK this week.
While in Camp Bastion, Harry opened up in a series of interviews to share his thoughts on recent royal headlines, including Prince William and Kate Middleton's baby news. Harry said, "I'm thrilled for both of them. I can't wait to be an uncle." In addition to discussing Will and Kate's big news, Harry's own nude photo scandal came up. Harry revealed, "It was probably a classic example of me probably being too much army and not enough prince. It's a simple case of that. I let my family down; I let other people down. But at the end of the day, I was in a private area, and there should be a certain amount of privacy that one should expect."

Parents-to-Be Channing and Jenna Unwind Together in Beverly Hills
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum grabbed lunch in Beverly Hills yesterday. The couple have been all over the city in the past week. On Tuesday, Channing and Jenna took a hike with their dogs in Runyon Canyon. They're back in LA after a holiday getaway to St. Bart's, where pregnant Jenna Dewan wore a bikini for walks on the beach with Channing.
They both took advantage of the chance to getaway between projects. Channing spent the tail end of 2012 in Pittsburgh on the set of Foxcatcher. Jenna, meanwhile, saw her Lifetime movie She Made Them Do It air in December. Now, they're both looking forward to the joint project of expanding their family in 2013.

Sienna's back in the UK following a big week in California. Sienna Miller attended the Globes Globes, wearing a dress from British designer Erdem, as a nominee for her HBO movie The Girl. She wasn't ultimately a winner in the category of best actress in a miniseries for made-for-TV movie, since she was bested by Game Change's Julianne Moore. Nonetheless, Sienna hit the party circuit. Miranda Kerr Takes a Stylish Trip to NYC
Miranda Kerr smiled for photographers as she landed in NYC on a flight from LA yesterday. She looked casual in a printed cardigan, Isabel Marant sneakers, and leather Helmut Lang leggings, after dressing up for the Golden Globes on Sunday. Miranda and her husband, Orlando Bloom, walked the red carpet at the event and partied into the night at InStyle's Globes bash. They had even more to celebrate that evening, since it was also Orlando's birthday! He made it back to LA in time for the fun weekend after taking a trip out of town earlier this month following son Flynn's second birthday.

Jessica Simpson wore a low-cut dress for an appearance on The Tonight Show yesterday. Fresh off an extended holiday vacation to Hawaii with her fiancé Eric Johnson, their daughter Maxwell, and a rotating cast of friends and family, Jess was ready to chat about her second pregnancy and her various work projects. One of those projects was announced yesterday morning ' a Jessica Simpson scripted comedy is in the works at host Jay Leno's network, NBC.
Jessica was her usual funny candid self while talking with Jay about her expanding family. She said that she and Eric, who've been engaged for two years, "had two different wedding dates, but he keeps knocking me up! We're doing it very backwards. I'll just keep my legs crossed this time." Anne, Hugh, And More Party With Their Awards at NBC's Globes Fête
Golden Globes winners Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman celebrated their wins with their fellow award recipients and Hollywood friends when they attended the NBC Golden Globes after-party last night. Hugh posed with director Tom Hooper while Anne was joined by Les Miserables costars Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, and Sacha Baron Cohen on the red carpet. Sacha caused quite the stir at the Globes when he presented and proceeded to roast his fellow costars, including poking fun of Anne's now-infamous upskirt incident at the film's premiere back in December. However, it looks like Anne wasn't offended by Sacha's ribbing as she happily smiled with him for photos. Jessica Chastain also attended the event and proudly showed off her award while grinning for the photographers. Olympic gold medalists Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, and Missy Franklin dropped by the event, along with Smash star Megan Hilty.

The Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA played host to tons of Golden Globes parties after the big show wrapped on Sunday night. Britney released a statement saying, "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."

Katie Holmes Returns to Broadway - in the Audience
Katie Holmes smiled as she headed into the opening performance of The Other Side on Broadway last night in NYC. She looked happy to return to the theater ' as an audience member. Katie's own time on the stage came to a premature end after her show, Dead Accounts, which was supposed to run through February, had its final curtain call last weekend. She is now enjoying some unexpected free time in the Big Apple with her daughter, Suri Cruise. Earlier this week, Katie and Suri sported matching coats to visit a park. Although she's not on stage at the moment, Katie can be seen as the face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics. Images from Katie's first ad campaign for the brand were released earlier this week.
Despite her lighter schedule, Katie's first week of freedom has been a busy one. On Wednesday, Katie appeared in an NYC court to support a friend who is seeking justice for the death of an infant. She has also been the subject of speculation in the fashion world. Word has spread that her line, Holmes & Yang, will not show during at New York Fashion Week despite doing so last season.

Kate Middleton Unveils Her Official Portrait in London
Kate Middleton unveiled her official portrait at the National Portrait Gallery in London earlier today. Kate, wearing a red dress from Whistles, was joined by husband Prince William and artist Paul Emsley, who painted the piece. The artwork itself features a close-up shot of Kate, softly smiling with her mouth closed, against a black background. Kate called the portrait "brilliant" while William called it "absolutely beautiful." Although William and Kate both love the piece, it is getting mixed reviews in the press, with some calling Kate's portrait "awkward." The artwork will hang in the National Portrait Gallery alongside other famous faces such as King Henry VIII.
Kate's portrait comes just a few days after she celebrated her 31st birthday. The Duchess of Cambridge marked the occasion by attending a performance of Cirque du Soleil's Kooza at London's Royal Albert Hall. Pregnant Kate also got some good news yesterday when the queen announced that Kate's hypothetical daughter will be titled "princess."

One of the first things you might notice when meeting Beasts of the Southern Wild writer Lucy Alibar are her arms. They're visibly strong, sculpted to a sinewy, solid perfection by the yoga she practices so frequently. Much like her Beasts main character, Hushpuppy, the petite screenwriter ' and her biceps ' proves that forces to be reckoned with often come in small packages. Lucy's imaginative coming-of-age story has become one of the year's most beloved little movies that could. It's already racked up no less than six dozen awards and nominations, including four Oscar nods this morning. The film's young star, Quvenzhané Wallis, made history today by being the youngest Best Actress Oscar nominee ever. (Now 9-years-old, she was just 5 when she auditioned for the role.) The movie is also up for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Based on Lucy's play Juicy and Delicious, Beasts was her attempt to detangle her own complicated relationship with her father in the midst of his serious illness. The writing of it would transform Lucy's life in more ways than one. She was living in NYC in 2009, too broke to even afford cell phone service, when she found out that the Sundance Institute's Screenwriting Lab had decided to put Beasts ' which she cowrote with childhood friend Benh Zeitlin, who would go on to direct the film ' into development. Earlier this week, as we sat in her publicity firm's offices in LA's gleaming Pacific Design Center, Lucy reminisced about what she would have been doing on this same date, three years ago. "Let's see. It's almost Christmas . . . selling t-shirts for Silence of the Lambs, the musical."
Odd jobs aside, Lucy seems to have never considered trading in her dream of a life committed to writing. "Oh, no. It's always been such a pleasurable thing for me to do. That would be like giving up sleeping or something like that. Or giving up yoga."

PopSugar: Being from Florida, how did your own Southern upbringing impact the movie?
Lucy: The reason I even wrote the play to begin with, and where it all started was, my dad was really sick and I was up in New York. I think it was trying to explain his parenting or our relationship. It might even be a rural thing vs. an urban thing, I don't know, but Southern men yell. They break sh*t when they're angry ' you know, sh*t gets broke! And I think a lot of people just didn't get that about my dad, and they were like, "Well, he shouldn't yell, he shouldn't have hit you." I think maybe it started from me defending my dad a lot to people who didn't even realize they were criticizing him, but were maybe criticizing his way of parenting. Then, growing up in the South, you have this real ear for other peoples' stories. People talk in stories and you just find out a lot about other peoples' business.
The language in Beasts is so poetic. The one line that really stuck with me is when Hushpuppy says, "I want to be cohesive." I thought that captured so many themes of the movie, so how did you hit on that line?
I was really feeling that. When my dad got sick, I was really trying to make sense of it. I'm from a very Southern Baptist area, where there's a sense that God has a plan for everything, so grief is almost a selfish emotion, because that was God's plan. And so everything God gives you is God's intention, so you should just accept that, and that's what grace is: just accepting that. When my dad got sick, my reaction was so far from that ' so angry. I didn't understand how this was good for anybody, how this was right for him, how this was right for our family. I think a lot of it was just my rage at being so wrong at how I was supposed to understand something.
There are things that Wink [Hushpuppy's dad] does, obviously, that as a viewer you kind of cringe at, but you get such a sense of his connection with Hushpuppy, especially by the end of the movie. Did you have a similar bonding moment with your dad after he had a chance to see the film?
Yeah, I did, actually. I was so afraid that he would see it and have a heart attack ' another heart attack! ' because it was so much about him, the way he talks, these scenes from our lives. And he called, and he was like, "Boss, I'm a goddamn legend, boss! You stole my lines, but that's all right. Boss, this is the best day of my life! I'm a goddamn legend."
So he saw it as a flattering portrait then.
Yeah. I was really happy because that's what I meant. Hushpuppy's dad is her hero. Benh and I were talking early on, and Hushpuppy learns that her dad is the coolest person in the world. But in between that she's feeling like I was feeling, which is very disconnected. Literally, you don't understand how all the parts fit together, and I think the line about cohesion . . . so much of it was me feeling like I was this leaf blowing in the wind and I didn't attach to anything. When my dad got sick, I felt like I lost my mooring and my home, and I felt like I was just floating, and I wanted to be cohesive. I wanted to be whole again. And that's Hushpuppy's central ache, I think.
The first time that you met Quvenzhané, or saw her screen test, what really struck you about her?
I actually kind of stepped back when we started looking for the actress who would play Hushpuppy. Each possibility was so different, and they looked at 4,000 kids. But I remember they sent me her video link and it was immediate. It was just so quickly clear that this was the right decision. She has this incredible instinct and this incredible ability to listen. She has this focus that I'm personally very jealous of. She has a great sense of humor, too, which is important for this role because it felt really alive. And she has this tenderness ' she and Dwight Henry [who plays her father, Wink] have this incredible dynamic together.
It must have seemed like a challenge at the outset to find such a young kid who could really pull this off.
Absolutely. I think that was another thing that helped, that I trusted Benh so much and so implicitly as my writing partner, because he wasn't going to start shooting until he found Hushpuppy. So we wrote the script and I want to say it was about three months, four months, that we were done with the script and just waiting to find her.
Time has passed and she's grown up a lot since filming, so have you stayed in touch?
Oh, yeah, we're all around each other all the time. I love them. It feels like this incredible tribe and this wonderful group of . . . "friends" isn't even the word for it. I guess it feels more like my family, but my family that I like a lot, and nobody has political opinions that make me just want to jump out a window!
You and Benh have been friends since you were, what, 12 years old?
Twelve or 13. Before puberty.
Back then, did you collaborate on any creative little projects?
No, we would just make each other mixtapes and I would send him every story I'd write. I introduced him to Gram Parsons. He introduced me to Nick Cave. Both of our lives were immediately changed after that. I took my Nick Cave album to school and they took it away from me, because they thought it was bad. It was Murder Ballads ' not middle-school-appropriate, but one of the greatest albums ever made. We just had this incredible friendship that's always been very deep, like brother and sister. It's never been romantic.
In translating this from the stage to the screen, and having to really visually portray the fantasy elements like the aurochs, did you worry that special effects might distance people from the heart of the story?
I didn't, because Benh and I have been friends for so long, and I had no idea how he would do the aurochs. Zero idea. And they were so important to the story of the play and then in the movie, and I knew he understood that, because we wrote the movie together. He has this incredible . . . I guess "artistic integrity" is a word for it. I just knew he wouldn't do anything that wouldn't look right.
They looked amazing.
Yeah, and I had no idea. They green-screened pigs . . . they were little pot-bellied pigs. They're very smart, soulful animals.
What's your perception, now that you're in the Hollywood swing of things, of the treatment and success of female screenwriters, where they fit in, how they've progressed?
Well, I don't know, because this is my first movie, but certainly, the next movie I'm making is much more within that system. I feel hesitant to say I've never experienced it, because I don't want to say at all that that doesn't exist ' I definitely have heard horror stories. I think it's changing truly ever year. I don't want to project anything, but what Kathryn Bigelow's doing ' she's on top of it and she has this incredible collaboration with Mark Boal. Nobody questions it. People definitely asked me, a couple of years ago, if [Benh and I] had ever dated, and people don't really ask me that anymore. I think it's because the climate has changed. I think there are people like [Kathryn], there's Lynn Shelton ' they're women not necessarily working as writers, but putting things out there in a way that I think is leveling the playing field for me.
What do you think you would have been doing on this day three years ago?
Let's see, it's almost Christmas . . . selling t-shirts for Silence of the Lambs, the musical, right before this! [Or] waitressing, which is a fine way to support yourself, and something I could always do. I'm physically pretty strong, so I could work doubles, no problem, for many days in a row, and then I could go home and write and my brain wasn't tired.
The Silence of the Lambs t-shirts make for a pretty good answer.
Oh my god. The worst job I ever had.
Struggling for those years in New York, was there ever a low point when you seriously considered giving up the writing thing?
Oh, no. It's always been such a pleasurable thing for me to do; it would be like giving up sleeping or something like that, or giving up yoga. It's just always what I've done to center myself and to organize myself. I never really thought about the best possible scenario, what would happen in the future. I've always just written because I love to do it.
Going back to yoga for a second ' I could not help but notice you have maybe the best yoga arms I've ever seen in my life.
Oh, thanks! I love yoga like nothing else.
How did you get into it?
My friend Bryan started working at a yoga studio, so I just started taking all these really good classes. And I think for me it felt really good to do something where I was really bad at it, and it was OK that I was bad at it, because I'm a perfectionist in my own life and I like to be good at everything. I'm really bad at yoga and I fall over all the time; I'm distracted, and so I just enjoy the freedom of failure.
For somebody who started writing so young, is there a through line you can see in your writing style, or the topics that interested you then and now?
I always loved to read more than anything else, so I think I've always loved first-person narratives, [like] Eudora Welty's. I've always loved really strong character voices [in] Faulkner. I just started writing what I like to think about, and what I like to read, which are these very strong voices telling you their story, and you see their story by how they're telling it. What they're telling you and what they're not telling you.
Are there any real standout books you read in 2012?
There's this fantastic biography of Leonard Cohen by Sylvie Simmons. It's one of the best biographies I've ever read. It's so interesting because it's about his process and his journey, just starting with the song.
Tell me about the movie you're writing for Escape Artists and where in the pipeline it is right now.
I'm still writing it. This is what I've been doing when I'm not on the festival circuit. I'm adapting a play about a group of girlfriends around the age of 9, third-grade Brownie scouts. I think it's an incredible age ' I'm so interested in that age.
What do you envision for your future now that you've had such success with Beasts?
I just want to keep telling stories and keep making movies with my friends. Stage pieces, music, movies. I have an incredible family at Court 13 [production company] and I've made some incredible friends and collaborators in my life. I just want to keep working with great people.

Lea and Cory Return Home Hand in Hand From Hawaii
Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were hand in hand as they touched down at LAX on Saturday. They looked relaxed as they returned from a romantic getaway to Hawaii, where they rang in 2013 together. Lea donned a sexy red bikini to hit the beach with Cory, and the pair also had some fun touring around on a boat during their stay. Cory documented their New Year's celebrations on Instagram, sharing a picture of fireworks from the beach. Although the couple were able to relax and enjoy their vacation, Lea announced that she was happy to head home on Twitter, saying, "One day left of vacay! I'll miss Hawaii so much but it feels good to be back home. Plus, sunny LA's not such a bad place to come back to!"

Miley Cyrus Brings Her New Dog Along to the Studio
Miley Cyrus threw on her "Homies" sweatshirt to visit a recording studio in LA Friday. She didn't have fiancé Liam Hemsworth by her side ' though they did spend the holidays together with family ' and instead brought along her new puppy. Miley's new dog Bean, one of her many pets, was introduced to the world in a tweet last week. The pup is a chihuahua mix, and Miley's been all about sharing photos of their adventures together over the last few days. Bean's not the only new addition to Miley's life. She sparked rumors that she and Liam actually tied the knot at the end of last month when she posted a social media picture featuring both of them wearing new bands on their ring fingers. Yesterday, Miley was solo again to pick up Mexican at Sharky's.
Olivia Palermo Brings Her Bandeau Bikini to the Beach
Olivia Palermo was in a bikini once again yesterday to enjoy the end of her St. Bart's vacation. She had the company of her shirtless boyfriend Johannes Heubel on the sand, and the couple even shared some PDA while out for a swim. Olivia and Johannes rang in 2013 on the lux Caribbean island, which is playing hosts to other celebs including Ryan Seacrest, Julianne Hough, and many more. It's the same destination that Johannes and Olivia chose to see in 2012, as well, and they seem to be soaking up as much sun as possible before they return home to chilly NYC.

Jennifer Lawrence dressed up in a big jacket and fancy dress last night to attend a party with friends at the Chateau Marmont. She let loose at a bash before what will surely be a big week. Jennifer will kick off award season making the rounds to support her David O. Russell movie, Silver Linings Playbook, as well as The Hunger Games. She's up for an honor at Wednesday's People's Choice Award in the category of favorite actress, and The Hunger Games is in the running for other honors too. At Thursday's Critics Choice Awards, Jennifer is up for best actress in Silver Linings. And on Sunday, we'll see Jennifer in top red carpet form when she attends the Golden Globes. She's in the running to pick up a favorite actress in a musical or comedy thanks to her role in Silver Linings. That picture is also in contention for best musical or comedy of the year and best screenplay.

Matt Damon and Michael Douglas Talk Liberace at the Winter TCA
Matt Damon and Michael Douglas took the stage at the HBO Winter 2013 TCA Panel yesterday in Pasadena. Michael and Matt, who costar in HBO's upcoming Behind the Candelabra, were at the Langham Hotel with producer Jerry Weintraub and director Steven Soderbergh to chat up their Liberace bio-pic. The TV film is based on the story of Liberace, portrayed by Michael, and his five year relationship with the much younger Scott Thorson, played by Matt.
The gang spoke about the project yesterday at the TCA, and about their struggles to make the project as accurate as possible because it was based on the stories of real people. Matt said about the Liberace film, "There are aspects of their relationship that were absurd, but for me it just kind of pointed out that there are aspects of all of our lives that are absurd . . . What it felt like was if this was a relationship between a man and a woman, you'd feel moments like, 'This is too intimate, maybe I shouldn't be here.' But it's between a man and a man and I've never seen that movie before. So it was fun, but we weren't giggling about it. We took it very seriously. These are people's lives and we wanted to get it right."
Matt spent the afternoon focusing on his small screen project, though his latest big screen endeavor, Promised Land, arrived in theaters across the country yesterday too. The project was out in limited release a week ago, but now is open widely ' check out so-so Promised Land reviews.
Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr Share a Kiss in LA
Orlando Bloom greeted Miranda Kerr with a kiss yesterday when he picked her up from a spa in LA. She spent part of the afternoon at a tanning salon, and Orlando arrived once she was done to gentlemanly open the door for her and give her a ride home. Orlando, Miranda, and their son Flynn were together to spend the holidays as a family in LA despite rumors that their marriage was on the rocks. The couple has put on a display of unity though, attending parties together, taking family hikes, and more. Tomorrow will bring further cause for celebration ' their son Flynn turns two!
Katy Perry and John Mayer Follow Dinner With PDA
Katy Perry held hands with John Mayer following a dinner date at Osteria Mozza in LA last night. The couple are staying put on the West Coast for the time being after celebrating Christmas with her parents. It seems John and Katy's romance is going strong. They connected last Summer, and after a brief break, reconciled in the Fall. They've been having lots of fun during relatively slow periods work-wise, taking in Broadway shows, watching a Rolling Stones concert, and even sharing some charity work. Katy and John are going into 2013 on a high note, and she received a belated holiday gift ' Katy was just ranked the world's hottest woman by the magazine Men's Health.

Jessica Simpson covered her growing stomach with a low-cut caftan yesterday when she left a restaurant in Oahu. She grabbed lunch with a group of friends, including her fiancé, Eric Johnson, then stopped at a roadside stand to shop for souvenirs. Eric picked up a decorative item carved from wood. Jess and Eric are enjoying the end of their Hawaiian vacation. Eric, Jessica, and their daughter, Maxwell passed both Christmas and New Year's on the island, and spent much of their getaway in the company of Jess's sister, Ashlee, nephew Bronx, and mom Tina. Now, they're keeping company with friends like CaCee Cobb and her new husband, Donald Faison.
While in Hawaii, Jessica and Eric confirmed the news that they're expecting a big brother or sister to their 8-month-old daughter, Maxwell. Jessica recently spoke about their expanding family. Jessica Simpson talked motherhood with People, and opened up about how life with a baby has affected her style, her work and life balance, and even how she views Eric. Here are highlights:
- On watching Eric as a dad: "It is the sexiest thing in the world to watch how he handles [Maxwell]. We're both learning together, but it's fun because we both get to grow in our relationship together."
- On work taking her away from Maxwell: "On some of the days of Fashion Star, I'm awake before [she] is awake, and I'm not home until she's already back to sleep. . . . That's only happened about four times, but it makes the day awful. I definitely need to see my baby. I get really sad if I don't get to see her. And then when Maxwell sees me, she just stares at me and touches my face. I can tell she missed me. That breaks my heart."
- On how motherhood's affected her style: "I find myself going for more sophisticated looks, but I do think that's kind of trendy right now ' just a classier-looking woman. I love to show off my curves, but being a mom, I guess I do it in a little bit more classy way, even though for Halloween I was a milkmaid ' but there are moments."
Jude Law Takes His Kids on a Flight Out of LA
Jude Law took his son Rudy and daughter Iris on a flight out of LA yesterday. The family first stopped by Kings Road Cafe before heading to the airport. Once at LAX, Jude spoke with a ticketing agent and walked his children through the security line.
Jude and his kids have been doing a lot of jet-setting as of late. The family was spotted enjoying a beach day as Jude Law went shirtless in Hawaii earlier this week. After their trip to the islands, Jude and his family returned to LA for a short stay. Meanwhile, Iris and Rudy's mom, Sadie Frost, recently tweeted that she's enjoying a vacation in Goa. This past week hasn't only been about plane trips for the actor ' Jude celebrated his 40th birthday in LA last Saturday on Dec. 29.

Katie Holmes Denies Jake Gyllenhaal Romance Rumors
Katie Holmes arrived at the Music Box Theatre for another performance of her Broadway show yesterday in NYC. It was one of her last ' Katie's play Dead Accounts is coming to an early close on Jan. 6, due to a steady decrease in ticket sales. Her time on stage will end more than a month before scheduled, but Katie has been devoted to her current project. She even made her Christmas visit home to see her parents in Ohio a quick one, so she didn't miss any engagements. Her daughter, Suri, made the trip as well before joining her dad, Tom Cruise, in Colorado.
Despite her professional focus on Dead Accounts, Katie's a newly single woman and finding her personal life in the news again. Recent rumors suggested that Katie Holmes is dating Jake Gyllenhaal after being set up by her former boyfriend, and Dawson's Creek costar, Joshua Jackson. However, both Katie and Jake's PR people have denied the stories. Her rep told E! News, "This story has not one ounce of truth."
Orlando Hikes With Flynn as He and Miranda Face More Split Rumors
Orlando Bloom and his son, Flynn, went for a post-New Year's Day stroll yesterday in LA. At one point, nearly 2-year-old Flynn walked on his own with a little help from dad. Orlando's big birthday is this Sunday, Jan. 6. The pair have been all about the outdoors lately. Orlando was spotted hiking with son Flynn in LA's Runyon Canyon on Sunday, too.
2012 ended on a rocky note for Orlando, who confronted false rumors that he and wife Miranda Kerr had broken up. The allegations had been plaguing the couple for months, but the family looked happy and very much together when they were photographed visiting a friend's house after Christmas. However, reports of a split popped up again when Miranda tweeted a photo of herself without her wedding ring on New Year's Eve. But the rumors looked to be squashed again when, later that day, Miranda tweeted a new photo of herself wearing her ring and writing, "Forgiveness is the answer to the child's dream of a miracle by which what is broken is made whole again."

It was a family affair on the beach in Hawaii for Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth yesterday. They were joined by Ava and Deacon Phillippe as well as baby Tennessee Toth for the sunny afternoon. Reese, who gave birth to Tennessee in September, wore a navy swimsuit while Jim went shirtless in the sand. There was plenty of reason for the fivesome to celebrate since they welcomed the New Year yesterday and it was Tennessee's first tropical getaway. Reese talked about her 2-month-old son during a recent chat with pal Chelsea Handler and joked about his "redneck" name. The little guy was one of many celebrity babies welcomed in 2012, though Jennifer Garner's son, Samuel Affleck, took home the title of most exciting arrival.

Anne Hathaway Rings in the New Year With Valentino and Her Husband
Anne Hathaway explored the Swiss town of Gstaad today with her husband Adam Shulman. The newlyweds have been in Europe vacationing with their good friends the designer Valentino Garavani and his longtime partner Giancarlo Giammetti. On Monday, Anne took in the sights with Valentino and Giancarlo while Adam was elsewhere. Valentino is especially close with Anne, and actually designed Anne's wedding dress for her and Adam's September 2012 wedding. Anne wasn't the only famous guest of Valentino's for the holidays ' Madonna reportedly joined Anne at Valentino's NYE bash.
2012 was full of major milestones for Anne. Not only did she tie the knot in September, but she turned 30 in November and has been racking up critical acclaim for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables. The movie was No. 1 at the Christmas Day box office, making it a hit with audiences, too.
